CS Industry inspects infrastructure as Konza Technopolis readies for investors.

Cabinet Secretary for Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development, Ms. Betty Maina was in Konza Technopolis City in Machakos County to inspect progress on infrastructural development as the site readies for investors.
She commended Konza Technopolis Development Authority for setting aside space for the establishment of sustainable SME Park and Light Industries development hubs.
The CS disclosed that some investors had already expressed interest in setting up software development facilities and manufacture of electrical and electrical appliances related material.
She explained that Konza City was conceived to drive Kenya’s economic, and central to it was technology production industry and manufacturing. “I am glad to see the depth and level of infrastructure development which is an important pre-requisite to attract potential investors”, observed Ms Maina.
The CS who led a delegation from the Ministry of Industrialization noted that SME Park and Light Manufacturing Centre will serve as an incubation Centre for budding industries besides enhancing value at several levels through reduction of supply chains, automation, co-location and common user facilities.
Konza Technopolis is a vision 2030 project whose objective is to position Kenya as knowledge-based economy and a preferred Science, Technology and Innovation destination.
Through building a vibrant innovation ecosystem, Konza Technopolis shall focus on key sectors of the economy, among them, Life Science, Engineering and ICT/ITES that will enhance local innovation, R&D, entrepreneurship and Technology enterprise.
Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) will initiate programs that will support the generation of 17,000 direct jobs and 30,000 residents on completion of phase 1 and over 200,000 residents on its completion.
