The Business Premises Rent Tribunal is one among many tribunals established under various laws enacted by parliament to deal with disputes that arise in the course of the regulation and administration of certain matters.

The tribunal was established in 1965 through an Act of Parliament known as ‘The Landlord and Tenant (Shops, Hotels and Catering Establishments Act) Cap.301 ,Laws of Kenya’.

Our Stakeholders include Landlords & Tenants in controlled tenancies, Law Society of Kenya, State Law Office, The Judiciary and the State Department of Trade.

Vision: To be the best provider of dispute resolutions in controlled tenancies.

Mission: To create an environment of harmony between landlords and tenants in controlled tenancies for business to thrive.

To administer ‘The Landlord and Tenant (Shops, Hotels and Catering Establishments Act) ,Cap.301 ,Laws of Kenya’ whose role is to make provision with respect to certain premises for the protection of tenants of such premises from eviction or from exploitation and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.
