Kenya and China Launch Talks on Economic Partnership to Strengthen Bilateral Relations
Kenya and China held the inaugural negotiation session on a proposed Economic Partnership between the two countries co-chaired by the Principal Secretary for Trade Regina Ombam and the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Cheng Yusang.
The session held virtually sought to establish mechanisms for the bilateral engagement following the signing of a Framework Agreement in April 2025 which aims to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
PS Ombam reaffirmed the cordial bilateral relations between Kenya and China and expressed her confidence that the negotiations will further deepen the cooperation in areas of mutual benefit.
On his part, Yusang termed Kenya as a strong ally in the East Africa Community and reiterated China’s commitment in strengthening the relationship to boost trade and investment between the two nations.
Present was Ag.CEO KEPROBA Floice Mukabana, Ag.Director External Trade Joseah Rotich among other senior government officials from both Kenya and China.
