Kenya and China Launch Trade Talks to Deepen Bilateral Relations between the Two Nations

Kenya and China have embarked on negotiations aimed at strengthening a mutually beneficial trade relationship, promoting sustainable development, investment and economic growth.

The two -day talks that kicked off on Tuesday in Nairobi,guided by the Framework Agreement on Economic Cooperation for Shared Development signed in April 2025, will address non-tariff barriers, sanitary and phytosanitary measures and technical regulations.

Principal Secretary for Trade, Regina Ombam in her opening remarks said Kenya is keen on enhancing market access for its goods,fostering investment and building a resilient economic framework.

China's lead negotiator, Yuson CHEN and Deputy Director, Department of WTO Affairs, Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, reiterated China's commitment to building a partnership based on solidarity, mutual respect and shared prosperity for a balanced and sustainable trade relationship between the two countries.

The negotiations are expected to promote economic cooperation and strengthen trade ties between Kenya and China.
