Kenya- EU EPA Implementation Strategy Nears Completion

The State Department for Trade is in the final stages of developing a Kenya-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Implementation Strategy.

The strategy is imperative towards  realising the full benefits of the trade opportunities offered by the EPA and will focus on key six thematic areas including Digital Trade,Customs and Trade Facilitation, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, Technical Barriers to Trade, Structured Commodity Trade and Trade and Sustainable Development.

The Acting Secretary for Trade Michael Mandu is leading a multi -sectoral team in Naivasha to finalise the draft strategy.

The objective of the strategy is to achieve increased export growth, diversified export markets and expanded export basket that incorporates value added products.
