Kenya -UK Bolster Trade Ties During Investment Forum

Principal Secretary for Trade Regina Ombam, held a bilateral meeting with UK officials led by Paul Whittingham, Head of Trade for Development at the Department for Business and Trade, and Richlove Mensah, Director of Trade and Investment (Kenya) and Regional Director for East Africa on the sidelines of the UK-EAC Trade and Investment Forum held in the UK.

The discussions centred on Kenya-UK bilateral trade relations, with both parties expressing their commitment to further deepen ties for mutual economic growth and cooperation.

Additionally, the meeting focused on the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) framework as a key instrument for sharing best practices and resolving any underlying trade issues. Both sides explored ways to broaden the agreement, particularly in areas such as trade in services and digital trade.

Kenya and the UK share long-standing bilateral relations. The UK ranks among the top five export destinations for Kenyan goods and remains the leading source of foreign direct investment (FDI) to Kenya, with over 300 UK companies investing across all productive sectors of the economy.

PS Ombam was joined by Kenya’s High Commissioner to the UK, Amb. Catherine Karemu.
