Ministry loops Nairobi county to promote Trade

Meeting to deliberate on trade and investment programmes currently being implemented

The State Department for Trade and the Nairobi County Government  held a meeting to deliberate on trade and investment programmes currently being implemented by the State Department and how the county government canbenefit.

Some of the key programmes that the Nairobi County Government can leverage to foster economic growth include the Kenya –EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), the Kenya-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership(CEPA) COMESA, African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Tripartite Free Trade Area(TFTA)

The acting Director for Internal Trade Elizabeth Miguda co-chaired the meeting with the Nairobi County Chief Officer for Markets and Trade Jane Wangui.

The discussions also explored potential areas of collaboration between the State Department and the devolved unit.

Among the areas of partnership that the two entities agreed to partner in to enhance trade facilitation, business growth and investment opportunities include legal and regulatory framework, sustainable trade, legal metrology, market plan development, digital trade ,market regulation and capacity building.
