Change of Guard at the State Department for Trade as PS Regina Ombam takes the helm
Principal Secretary Regina Ombam officially assumed office in a brief handing-over ceremony held at the department's headquarters.
In her inaugural address, PS Ombam pledged to provide visionary leadership aimed at advancing Kenya’s trade agenda. She emphasized the importance of teamwork, dedication, and mutual support, assuring the staff of her commitment to creating an enabling environment for success.
The outgoing Principal Secretary, Alfred K’Ombudo, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their unwavering support over the past two and a half years.
He cited increased exports and enhanced market access through the signing of land mark agreements such as the Kenya-European Union Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) and the Kenya-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) as key milestones achieved during his tenure.
The State Department extends its deepest appreciation to PS K’Ombudo for his visionary leadership, dedication, and transformative contributions to the State Department.
As PS Ombam steps into her new role, the State department is optimistic about a future marked by renewed energy, collaboration, and progress towards a more vibrant trade ecosystem.
In attendance were CEOs of KNTC, KEPROBA,WRSC,KOMEX and senior officials from the State Department led by the Secretary Administration.
